Working Collaboratively During The Pandemic

For some, work-from-home orders have been a gift. Gladly trading their work attire for sweats and cozy blankets, enjoying the comfort of the couch instead of an office chair. Who wouldn’t want to spend more time with family and pets? Well, for others, it hasn’t been so easy. Some thrive in the office environment and like getting their hands dirty working shoulder to shoulder with their peers. They miss their daily routines and feeling the humming energy around their work station. Regardless of where you fall on the spectrum, we all share one thing in common: we’re adapting. And while some people have returned to the office, many of us are still dressing up our upper bodies for Zoom meetings while we sit in our underwear for the foreseeable future.

So how can we work together while we’re so far apart, especially in a collaborative industry like advertising? Thankfully, technology is on our side. We’ve never been better equipped to handle the repercussions of this pandemic. Zoom, Slack, Teamwork, Gmail, Instagram, Trello. The social platforms that have ingrained themselves into our day-to-day workflow keeping businesses afloat and the work cranking out as if all is normal. We can maintain some semblance of human connection in our virtual boardrooms, and we’re finally learning that most meetings probably could have just been an email.

It’s relieving to see that we can survive. That we’ve come far enough technologically that we don’t need to just shut down in the face of a disaster. We’re resilient and very lucky to have our digital safety net. As creative problem-solvers, we’ve done our best to overcome the logistical issues posed by COVID-19, and for the most part, we’ve succeeded. Is time in the office preferable? For some, yes. But for ZAG, preserving the health of our employees is our highest priority. Luckily, we’ve learned to roll with the punches, and discovered innovative ways to keep producing high-quality work. Along with a little help from our friends at Apple and Google and strong Wi-Fi connections.
